Fonroque: Holiday apartments and houses

The church of Fonroque was built on the site of an older place of worship and has a Gothic portal dating from the 15th century.

Culture and history

The bastide of Fonroque was founded in 1284 by Edward I of England. Almost all of its remains have disappeared. In the church square, it is possible to imagine the former characteristic rectangular layout of the bastide.

The Fonroque picnic area is located in the bastide square. Public toilets are located behind the church of Fonroque.

Water and landscape

The Touron de Fonroque spring at the Le Touron stream features pools, a washhouse and a livestock watering trough. The Le Touron stream is 1.1 km long and flows into the Réveillou, which in turn is a tributary of the Dropt.

Cycling route

Loop No. 7 in the Southern Bergeracois between Eymet and Issigeac is a 33 km cycling route classified as fairly easy, with a stated duration of three hours. The loop reaches Fonroque at kilometre 20.50; a crossing of the D933 is marked there.

La Renaudie Castle is located in the wider area around Fonroque.
