Carlux: Holiday apartments and houses

The green Sarlat–Cazoulès cycle route runs through the municipality of Carlux; the long-distance hiking trail GR6 and numerous other hiking trails also pass through the town.

Hiking and cycling

The Boucle de Carlux begins at the car park on Place des Platanes and follows the D61 towards Saint-Julien-de-Lampon to the château. It is a walking trail focusing on cultural, historical and natural features. The easy circular hike is 6.0 kilometres long and takes around 2 hours.

Culture

On Carlux’s discovery trail, the Gothic fireplace dates from the 14th century. The market hall on the discovery trail also dates from the 19th century and has a remarkable wooden structure.

The Church of Sainte Catherine dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. The Château de Carlux is protected as a historic monument in France; its current designation as a monument historique dates from 7 December 2022. Ruins of the Château de Carlux remain.

The Gare Robert Doisneau is a museum of photography and film and the only permanent exhibition venue in France dedicated to Robert Doisneau. Admission is free, and the Gare Robert Doisneau is open year-round.

Nature and water

Les Jardins de Cadiot cover 2 hectares of terraced grounds. These are divided into 10 thematic garden areas; the gardens also include exhibitions of contemporary sculptures. Les Jardins de Cadiot are managed according to the principles of permaculture and are strongly committed to protecting biodiversity.

Carlux has beaches suitable for relaxation and swimming. Canoeing is possible on the Dordogne in Carlux.
