Rouffach: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Tour des Sorcières is the only surviving tower in Rouffach and is attached to the former town hall. The fortified structure is classified as a historic monument. The tower has a circular floor plan in its lower section and a square one in its upper section.

Nature

The Réserve naturelle des Collines de Rouffach nature reserve is predominantly characterized by formerly grazed dry grassland and contains the largest contiguous Xerobrometum area in Alsace. Of the 274 plant species recorded there, 38 are endangered plant species in Alsace; the fauna also comprises 468 species.

Storks can be observed all year round in an enclosure at the Parc à cigognes along the town-wall circular route.

Culture

Notre-Dame de l’Assomption is a church in the Romanesque-Gothic style whose architecture shows the development of sacred architecture from the 11th to the 19th century. It has a sculpted portal surmounted by a rose window.

The Rouffach Bailiwick Museum presents treasures from Haut-Mundat, whose former capital was Rouffach, as well as from the villages that once belonged to this bailiwick. It is located on the first floor of a former granary built in the 16th century, which was designated a historic monument in 1921.

The historical walking tour through Rouffach offers a tour of the town’s history. An information leaflet is available from the tourist office; in summer, free guided tours are offered, as well as tours for groups by prior reservation.

Activities

The Promenade des Grand Cru Vorbourg climbs above Rouffach and offers wide views southwards over the surrounding landscape. It leads to a viewing balcony above Rouffach, from which the town and, in particular, its medieval historic landmarks can be seen.

The “Balade ludique à Rouffach” is a family activity through the town’s Renaissance streets. Questions and clues lead participants to solve a puzzle; the activity is available in three versions for children aged 4 to 12 and for the whole family.

The “Discovering the vineyard by bike” cycling tour leads through the landscape around the “Âme du Vignoble”. It offers views of the vineyards from the plain along the Lauch or through the vineyards between the forest and the plain.

Markets and Events

The annual Fête de la Sorcière transforms Rouffach into an open-air theatre featuring local traditions, events, performances, costumes and convivial gatherings.
