Langebæk lies in a rolling, forested moraine landscape that slopes down towards Ulvsund. The landscape is complemented by places and trails with very different features: a designated cultural landscape, manor house history, a prehistoric long barrow and routes along a stream or offering views. When planning your holiday, you can decide whether to focus on architectural and cultural history or on nature trails.

Forest, Water and Views

The Møllebæk stream flows through Langebæk. Its water power was used in the past, making the stream part of the area’s history of land use. In the wider area around Langebæk, Vinterbølle Skov offers opportunities to visit the forest and coast. A trail leads to a ten-metre-high cliff with a view.

A trail runs along the stream for the entire length of Mallings Kløft. At the end, it reaches open countryside, where there are views across the Storstrømmen and the Farø Bridges. The landscapes offer different experiences: here, water accompanies the trail; there, the view opens out across the surrounding area. Together with the forest and coast at Vinterbølle Skov, they offer a choice of different nature experiences, without all the trails having the same character.

Petersværft and Petersgaard

Petersværft is now designated as a cultural landscape of special conservation value. The history of the place dates back to the 18th century: in 1777, the manor owner Peter Johansen of Petersgård established Petersværft as a shipyard. The main building at Petersgaard was built earlier, between 1774 and 1776, in the Neoclassical style. These dates provide two specific reference points in the history of the building and shipyard.

The manor garden at Petersgaard is also a distinct form of cultural heritage. It is now considered a typical example of a modernised and contemporary manor garden. It includes a park with a memorial stone and tea pavilion, a formal garden with perennial borders, and a large vegetable and cut-flower garden. Petersgaard thus combines architectural history with different elements of garden design.

Long Barrow in Langebæk Skov

East of Petersværft, a long barrow dating from the beginning of the Neolithic period lies in Langebæk Skov. It is about 35 metres long and eight metres wide. The marked Sjællandsleden hiking trail passes directly by the long barrow. This brings together a prehistoric monument and a marked hiking route in one place.

The route described to the long barrow starts at the car park by the small harbour at Petersværft and follows Pedersværftsvej, the gravel road north of the old forester’s house, and the forest track by Officershuset. The surrounding forest is privately owned; please observe the access rules on site. There is no parking in the immediate vicinity of the Solvang campsite.

Which Holiday Rental Suits Your Plans?

When choosing a holiday rental in Langebæk Municipality, you can be guided by the experiences that matter to you. If you would like to include architectural and garden history in your plans, Petersgaard and Petersværft offer that focus. If you would rather combine trails by the water, forest and views, the nature experiences described here offer other options. The long barrow also adds its own distinct feature, with prehistoric history and a marked hiking trail.
