The Blemmelyngvejen offers the closest access by car to Bleghald. There is space for exactly one car opposite the Blemmelyng estate. From there, a 700-metre footpath leads north along forest trails. This makes the drive, the space for one car and the walk that follows specific points to factor into your day’s plans.
Signs at both ends of Plantagevej prohibit motor vehicles, heavy mopeds, tractors and work machinery from entering; cycling and walking are permitted. Check the signs on site before using the route. In the wider region, the rules for private forests allow visitors from 6 a.m. until sunset. In these forests, you may walk and cycle only on roads and paths. Paths formed solely through frequent use are excluded. These time and access limits help you plan your time in the forest.
Gravel cycling around Knudsker
On the final sections of the “Klippeøen rundt” gravel cycling route, the route passes through Knudsker Plantation and Onsbæk Plantation, as well as the area around Arnager and the airport. This gives you a longer cycling route as another way to explore, alongside the footpath towards Bleghald. As route conditions can change, check the current route before setting off.

Smokehouse tradition and travel
The smokehouses each have their own distinct character. Bornholm’s first smokehouse opened in Gudhjem in 1866, and herring has been smoked there ever since. Hasle Smokehouse is the last smokehouse on Bornholm where fish is smoked traditionally using open chimneys and alder wood. Gudhjem connects the tradition with its historical beginnings, while Hasle continues the traditional smoking method.
Bornholm can be reached by ferry, plane, bus or train. The ferry crossing from Ystad to Bornholm takes one hour and 20 minutes; check the current timetables before travelling.
