In Tečovice, the Stezky mezi kopci trail network, historic church art and local festival traditions come together. The various aspects of the village range from trails for several types of activity to sacred buildings with medieval traces and a chapel with distinctive interior furnishings. Local festivals are also part of Tečovice’s character, providing a contemporary framework for its historical and cultural connections.

Landscape and trails

The Stezky mezi kopci trail network is suitable for hiking, Nordic walking, running and mountain biking; most trails can be ridden by mountain bike. The network is therefore not limited to a single means of getting around. Information boards with trail maps and tourist signposts are available for orientation. Benches and panoramic boards at viewpoints complement the facilities. With regard to mountain-bike accessibility, the following applies explicitly: most of the trails are covered, not every individual section.

The Tečovické stráně trail passes the Kostel sv. Jakuba Staršího church in Tečovice. The red-marked trail is 9 km long and runs predominantly through the area around Tečovice. There are viewpoints and polders built by the municipality along the trail. This named route therefore connects the village area with its immediate surroundings, without its course being limited to the village centre.

Culture and history

The Kostel sv. Jakuba Staršího church was originally a Romanesque building from the late 13th century and was later remodelled in the Gothic and Baroque styles. Frescoes from the 14th century can be seen in the nave and chancel, shaping the interior. Visitors can also view a valuable pulpit and a baptismal font from the 13th century in the church. The architectural form, wall paintings and furnishings thus point to different historical periods that come together in the same sacred building.

North of Tečovice, the Kaplička sv. Rodiny chapel stands beside a road; it dates from around 1800. Its interior walls are covered with paintings by Josef Mikeš. Alongside the church, this smaller sacred building is therefore also one of the village’s explicitly named cultural sites.

Local traditions

Tečovské hody is a revived local tradition. On 18 October 2025, it included a festive procession featuring the leading of a ram. Tečovská pouť is another traditional local festival. Both names refer to distinct festival traditions within the local cultural life.
