In the centre of Okříšky stands Zámek Okříšky, a Renaissance château complex with an agricultural courtyard. The complex was built on the foundations of a medieval fortress and is one of the immovable cultural monuments in Okříšky. The estate to which the church belonged was based in the neighbouring Zámek Okříšky château. Okříšky railway station is located on railway line 240 between Brno and Jihlava.
Church and History
The Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary is a distinctive landmark of Okříšky. Its present form was probably built in 1673. A pilgrimage takes place at the church on 12 September, the Feast of the Name of Mary.
Landscape and Local Life
Strážka is designated as a significant viewpoint in Okříšky, while Zámecký rybník is considered a place with a special landscape character. The appearance of the town is complemented by the Okříšky sports complex, with facilities for ball hockey and ice hockey, a tartan-surfaced dual athletics track, a multi-purpose sports field and a practice tennis wall.
The hotel restaurant Restaurace Okříšky prepares homemade specialities as well as traditional Czech and Moravian dishes.
Events
The Jarní jarmark was held at Zámek Okříšky on 6 April 2025; the event scheduled for 12 April 2026 was announced as the second edition of the revived market. The market offers stalls with handicrafts and industrial products, various treats, rides for children and children's workshops.
