Luka Nad Jihlavou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Luka nad Jihlavou Castle is a two-storey Baroque building constructed between 1739 and 1747 on the site of a dilapidated Renaissance fortress.

Culture and History

A valuable stone cross stands beside the parish church; it was created in 1848 to commemorate the abolition of compulsory labor. The monumental late Baroque parish church in Luka nad Jihlavou has a preserved Romanesque tower façade and was built between 1755 and 1763 on the site of a demolished medieval church.

Near the castle stands a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from the first half of the 18th century. The castle park contains the Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, built in 1734 at the expense of Countess Anna von Gellhorn. The castle is privately owned and closed to the public.

Museum

The Luka nad Jihlavou Museum includes a display of the dispatching office at Luka nad Jihlavou railway station. Authentic objects from rural life are also on display, including kitchen equipment, furniture, traditional costumes and handicrafts. Regular themed exhibitions provide further insight into local history and traditions.

Landscape

The castle is surrounded by an extensive English-style park with rare trees and shrubs.

Luka nad Jihlavou railway station is located 200 metres from the ski lift. The Luka nad Jihlavou–Jihlava cycle path is part of the Jihlava–Raabs cycle route.
