Culture and History

The Church of All Saints stands in Arnultovice. The originally Late Gothic building was constructed on the site of a church already mentioned in 1352 and is a protected cultural monument. Following the completion of its interior renovation in 1999, it was once again used for liturgical purposes and for the cultural needs of the municipality of Velké Chvojno.

The light granite monument in Velké Chvojno was erected in 1924 in memory of the victims of the First World War. Four plaques on the monument list the names of soldiers who fell on all fronts of the First World War.

Near Žďár stands the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, a Baroque statue dating from 1748. In 1998, it was restored by the academic sculptor Michael Bílek from Petrovice.

A reconciliation cross, which is a state-protected cultural monument, stands on the surrounding wall of the churchyard to the right of the main gate. Its wedge-shaped cross shaft bears an engraved, upward-pointing lance with a socket and dates from the second half of the 16th century. A second reconciliation cross is set into the cemetery wall to the left of the rear gate and is also a state-protected cultural monument. The stone cross has a wedge-shaped base, straight arms, and carved Greek crosses at the ends of the horizontal beam.

The Antonínské slavnosti are among the cultural events held in Velké Chvojno.

Location

Road I/13 runs along the boundary of the municipality of Velké Chvojno. Velké Chvojno is located approximately two kilometres from the D8 motorway.
