Nové Hrabecí: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The town of Šluknov’s 25-kilometre-long Velký vyhlídkový okruh lists Nové Hraběcí as one of the route’s four main viewpoints.

Trails and viewpoints

The network of Šluknovské stezky trails around Šluknov, which also includes Nové Hraběcí, is intended primarily for hiking; most routes can also be ridden by mountain bike. In the immediate surroundings, the Židovský vrch viewpoint offers a direct view of Šluknov’s built-up area and its heritage zone. It can be reached via road III/2667 between Šluknov and Nové Hraběcí.

The section between the Šluknov zastávka railway station and Nové Hraběcí is classified as moderately difficult. The place name here is therefore also associated with a specifically named stretch of trail and a viewpoint in the immediate vicinity.

Cultural traces

Several historical markers stand along the paths between Šluknov and Nové Hraběcí. The Zeckelův kříž was erected by Josef Reintsch on the path connecting Císařský railway station with Nové Hraběcí. The cross probably dates from the second half of the 19th century and stands on the ridge along a trail on the green-marked route from Šluknov zastávka railway station to Nové Hraběcí. A memorial to the victims of the world wars also stands on the road from Šluknov to Nové Hraběcí, as well as along the green-marked hiking route and cycle route 3043.

In the cadastral area of Nové Hraběcí stands the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in 1867. Židovský vrch, which extends as far as Šluknov, is named after the Jewish cemetery in Šluknov.

History and place names

The historical German name of Nové Hraběcí was Neu Grafenwalde. The addition “Nové” distinguishes the settlement from Staré Hraběcí. After the Císařský estate was dissolved in 1730, the agricultural buildings in Nové Hraběcí were sold off in parcels and converted into residential buildings.

In 1736, many farmers moved from Křečany to Hraběcí because they were burdened by obligations related to the construction of the local church; as a result, the community grew quickly.

Cycling connections

The marked cycle route 3043 runs through Nové Hraběcí. The cycle route leads via Nové Hraběcí to the Lipová–Sohland border crossing.
