Podbřežice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The Neo-Gothic Church of St. Peter and Paul in Podbřežice was consecrated on June 14, 1907. It houses a bell cast in Olomouc in 1603 by Zachariáš Milner. The Church of St. Peter and Paul also contains a gravestone of the painter Ondřej dating from 1599. It was moved from the original church to the cemetery.

The cast-iron cross in Podbřežice is also part of the historic appearance of the village. It was made in 1834 at the ironworks in Blansko, stands at the former crossroads of the road to Komořany, and was restored in 2012 under the supervision of the Brno office of the National Heritage Institute.

The parish acquired the cast-iron statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in 1885; it now stands in front of the church. The war memorial “Pomník Obětem 1. a 2. světové války” is also located there; it stands in the park on the village square of Podbřežice in front of the church.
