Culture

The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Frymburk dates back to the 13th century and features Baroque interiors. Every year, Frymburk hosts the Frymburk Festivities as well as sporting and cultural events. A Stations of the Cross trail leads up Marta Hill to the chapel there.

The ruins of Vítkův Hrádek Castle, accessible from Frýdava, have a viewing platform overlooking the Lipno Reservoir, the Bohemian Forest and the Novohradské Mountains.

History

The family name Loistl lives on in the name of today’s Lojzovy Paseky holiday resort. An archaeological find near the present-day Lojzovy Paseky holiday settlement proves that the area was inhabited at the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th century. Decorated shards of ceramic storage vessels were found near the present-day holiday settlement. Lojzova Paseka was one of the settlements flooded during the construction of the Lipno Reservoir.

In the wider regional surroundings of Lojzova Paseka lies Chlumany, an ancient site. The parish church of Haslach is located nearby. Neuhaus Castle and Breitenstein Castle are also situated in the wider surrounding region.
