Pelechy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pelechy combines a rich local history with a distinctive village character and designated paths through fields and forests. The village was established between 1768 and 1789, when Pelechy belonged to the Kout estate.

History and Village Character

Historical evidence for the village name dates from 1789, 1854, and 1895. It records the forms Pelechny, Pelechen, and Bernloch. The historical German name Bernloch is explained as deriving from “Pelech,” “cave,” or “animal den”; in the case of Pelechy, the name probably referred to a remote community hidden in the forests.

The neighboring settlement of Šnory is also part of the area's recorded history. It was formerly called Kohlstäten in German, was depopulated in 1945 after the end of the Second World War, and disappeared. In the present-day village landscape, the former elementary school building, together with mighty lime trees, forms a significant landmark and a cultural monument of Pelechy.

Landscape and Paths

Háječek, which teacher Černý planted together with his pupils after the war, is considered an adornment of Pelechy. A chapel southwest of the village has been designated an architecturally valuable structure.

The field and forest paths in Pelechy are primarily intended for shared use in landscape management and for recreation by pedestrians and cyclists. Existing cycling routes and marked hiking trails of the KČT are also designated for Pelechy.

Surroundings

Spálený vrch is located in the immediate vicinity of Pelechy. The surrounding area also includes Čerchov, Dreiwappen, and Dachsriegel. The wider region is home to the Bayerwald-Tierpark Lohberg wildlife park and the Chammünster Church, the Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
