Chválenice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chválenice is situated in a hilly landscape featuring the Švihovská vrchovina and Radyňská vrchovina highlands, the Úslava valley, the Kozelské polesí woodland and the nearby Brdy Hills. The local history includes St Martin’s Church, which was built as a Baroque structure between 1747 and 1753, allegedly based on a design by K. I. Dientzenhofer.

Culture and Local History

Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer is regarded as the architect of St Martin’s Church in Chválenice. It is considered one of the outstanding works of Bohemian rural Baroque and is a particularly noteworthy Baroque building with a longitudinal, richly articulated floor plan.

The log barn on farmstead No. 27 U Chmelíků is one of the few surviving examples of Chválenice’s former villagescape, which was characterised by numerous log buildings.

Landscape and Rock Formations

At 537 metres above sea level, Farská skála is the highest point in Chválenice and is surrounded by Džbánek Hill. Farská skála is also one of several nearby rock formations in the Barrandian geological system.

Nature and Villagescape

The more than two-hundred-year-old Niklojc pear tree stands alone in the fields near Borky above Chouzovy.

Since 5 October 2016, the Niklojc pear tree has been designated as a protected commemorative tree. As a protected commemorative pear tree, it stands alone in a field in the Na Borkách area between Chouzovy and the Chválenice cadastral area of V Babších; a blue-marked hiking trail runs along the field, and the tree is approximately 200 metres from the road. Historical maps show the Niklojc pear tree as a significant landmark.
