Chlistov: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chlístov combines sacred architecture dating back to the 14th century with remarkable examples of rural folk architecture. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is first documented in writing in 1360. Originally, it was a single-nave Gothic church with a rectangular layout and a polygonally enclosed presbytery dating from the 14th century.

Culture and History

A striking example of the regional architectural style is the u Mýdlů farmhouse, No. 37. The single-storey Šumava-type house probably dates from the 18th century and was built from large unworked logs. It is considered an example of folk timber architecture from the Šumava region constructed in an archaic manner.

Farmhouse No. 32 is a two-storey timber house with a side porch and a projecting gable. It is an example of 19th-century folk architecture. The rural estate at No. 38, which is typical of the local area, also dates from this period. It consists of a residential building with a cellar, a stable, and a barn.

The Jewish cemetery in Chlístov was established in 1869 and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It can be reached via a dirt road that continues from the road north of Chlístov.

The Chlístov outdoor swimming pool is also one of the local landmarks. Fishing is possible there, and the dam is lined with a row of trees. Cycle Route No. 2285 also runs by the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
