Hradčany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hradčany combine their location in a valley by the Šišemka stream with a history of settlement: they have been mentioned in old, particularly ecclesiastical documents since as early as 1160.

Landscape and Classification

Hradčany lie in a valley through which the Šišemka stream flows. Geographically and culturally, they belong to Lipenské Záhoří, a landscape between the Hostýnské vrchy and the Bečva.

Culture and History

The newly built Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua dominates the spacious village square of Hradčany. The local tradition also includes the statue of Our Lady of Svatý Hostýn: it dates from 1912 and was commissioned at the expense of Antonie Hrbáčková.

The wooden bell tower that has stood here since time immemorial was converted into a brick bell tower in the mid-19th century. The nave of today's Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua was added to the bell tower in 2008.

In the forest between Hradčany and Pavlovice are the remains of Hradčany Fortress, visible as terrain elevations on a flat spur. According to local legend, a water spirit lived at a footbridge over the Šišemka near Hradčany.

Events

Hradčanské Vlnky is a running competition and cross-country trail race held in October.
