Darkovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Darkovice combines a preserved fortification structure with ecclesiastical culture, traditional events and paths through the municipality. The heavy Czechoslovak fortification structure MO-S 20 Orel is the only completed structure of the planned “U Orla” fortress and has been preserved in its 1945 condition. During the commemorative event held annually in May, the fortification structure is exceptionally opened to the public.

Culture and History

The Church of St Hedwig was consecrated on 3 July 2005. On 25 March 2010, it received a new organ. The instrument was built by the Kánský-Brachtl organ workshop from Krásné Loučky near Krnov; it was then ceremonially blessed. The consecration day, organ and blessing are therefore dated and named details of the church in Darkovice.

Traditional events in Darkovice include Dožínky. In addition, a structure was erected here in 1823 to commemorate the abolition of corvée labour in Prussia. Alongside the church and the fortification structure, the locality therefore also includes a recurring event date and a historic commemorative structure.

Paths, Views and Recreation

The Na Hrázi sports and recreation area has a natural swimming pool with a main pool and a children’s paddling pool, a children’s area and two beach volleyball courts. The areas mentioned therefore include bodies of water, a dedicated children’s area and two beach volleyball courts.

From Darkovice’s highest points near Orel Fortress, the view extends northeast as far as Poland. The view is therefore associated with the area near Orel Fortress; the direction given is northeast, and the destination area is Poland.

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Darkovice along the route Poruba-Slovan – Děhylov – Hlučín – Darkovičky – Darkovice – Bohuslavice. In addition, international cycle route No. 5, Jantarová stezka, runs through Darkovice along road III/4698. The locality is therefore traversed by both a blue-marked hiking route with several stops and a named international cycle route with an explicitly designated section of road.

Landscape and Surroundings

Mount Vinná hora is located in the surroundings of Darkovice. The hill Davidka [Hlučín] is located in the immediate surroundings of Darkovice. The hill (Hranečník) [Píšť] is also located in the surroundings of Darkovice. Mount Přílet is located in the wider regional surroundings of Darkovice. The four landscape destinations are therefore specified in different spatial relationships to Darkovice: Vinná hora and Hranečník in the surroundings, Davidka in the immediate surroundings and Přílet in the wider regional surroundings.

The wider regional surroundings of Darkovice also include several explicitly named castles. They include Rzuchow Castle - Zameczek, Czernica Castle - Dworek, Wodzisław Śląski Castle - Ruiny Baszty and Dzimierz Castle - Zameczek. These four castles are each located in the wider regional surroundings of Darkovice.
