Tachov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Tachov lies at the foot of Tachovský kopec in a gently hilly landscape. Two cycle routes pass through the village: Regional Cycle Route No. 25 runs between Doksy and Dubá via Tachov, while Local Cycle Route No. 0015 leads from Dolní Houska via Ždírec and Tachov to Doksy.

Landscape

Tachovský vrch is of geotourism significance. At Tachovský vrch, an active quarry exposed the contact between Permian ignimbrite and Tertiary phonolite. The Tachovský vrch geological locality is accessible by car without any traffic restrictions.

Tachov is home to Lípa v Tachově, a protected individual tree. It was first placed under protection on 9 December 1994.

Cycle Routes and Trails

The area around Tachov is suitable for hiking and cycling trips. However, no marked hiking trail passes through Tachov. There is a rest area with a shelter in the centre.

Culture and History

The Baroque chapel in Tachov was built between 1793 and 1794 and is protected as a cultural monument. The protected former half-timbered schoolhouse No. 38 in Tachov dates from 1787. The oldest surviving mention of Tachov dates from 1392.

Wayside shrines stand along the roads from Tachov to Ždírec and Okna. The wayside shrine on the road to Ždírec is a sandstone shrine with a niche containing a painted image of the Holy Trinity, as well as a metal cross. Behind the village, there is a cross beside an old farm track from Tachov towards Zbyn.

The memorial to those who fell in the First World War consists of a sandstone pedestal and a life-size angel figure holding a laurel wreath in its hands.

Local Character

The so-called Dubský zelený chmel was traditionally grown in Tachov.
