Svetla Pod Jestedem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Světlá pod Ještědem lies on the southern slope of the Ještědsko-kozákovský hřbet mountain ridge. The terrain in the municipality ranges from 400 to 1,012 metres above sea level; at the same time, the municipality offers far-reaching views over up to one third of Bohemia. Světlá pod Ještědem offers terrain for hiking and cycling.
Culture and History
Every year around the transition from May to June, the Karoliny Světlé open-air festival takes place in the municipality. Karolina Světlá lived with her husband Petr Mužák in Světlá pod Ještědem from 1853 to 1865, the municipality to which she owes her pseudonym.
Antošův statek, now associated with Hostinec U Richtrů, dates back to 1835 and is the setting of the novel “Vesnický román”. The guided tour “Vesnice s příběhem” leads across the village square and to the Church of Saint Nicholas in Světlá pod Ještědem, conveying interesting local stories. Its route is short and also suitable for visitors with reduced mobility. The brick Church of Saint Nicholas dates back to 1643.
Trails
The “Po stopách Karoliny Světlé” educational trail was created by the Stopy v krajině association so that the general public can discover the literary and historical traces in the Podještědí landscape. The circular “Cesta Karolíny Světlé” route is marked with green signs and leads several times to places where the plot of one of her works is set. This route is also suitable for parents with children; at several points, it is possible to return to the starting point.
The “Ještědské vápence” educational trail starts at the Světlá pod Ještědem, Rozstání, dolní ves bus stop.
