The cross-border Mockelbahn cycle route begins at Hranice railway station and follows the former Mockelbahn railway line through dense forest, passing the former Freiberg station and continuing to Adorf (Vogtland); it is 8.52 km long.

Culture

The roots of the Evangelical Church of St. Martin in Hranice date back to the 14th century. The church was extensively rebuilt in 1719, with the nave designed in the Romanesque style. Its furnishings include an original clock mechanism from 1881, which is considered a technical monument.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary acquired its present pseudo-Romanesque appearance in 1894. Knihovna a Muzeíčko houses a small local museum that shares its premises with the adult library; the ground floor also contains an information center and a café.

History

In the immediate vicinity, the historic main border stone I/1 marks the Czech-Bavarian border and bears the year 1844. In the former cemetery of Trojmezí, two graves remain in a wooded setting near preserved war memorials.

The former settlement of Kaiserhammer was established at the beginning of the 15th century as a water-powered hammer mill specializing in the processing of iron ore. At its former site, remains of an iron ore adit have survived in the immediate vicinity, recalling the area’s industrial past. At the Old Cemetery in Studánka, predominantly old German gravestones have survived in the immediate vicinity, bearing witness to the former history and culture of the place.
