Tuřany combines a long-distance cycling route with architectural heritage and regional folk culture. This townscape is complemented by distinctive natural and cultural points of interest in the surrounding area and the wider region.

Activities

The 28 km long long-distance cycle route 604 is classified as easy. It is suitable for road bikes and runs through the valley of the Šitbořský potok in the Cheb Basin. The route passes through Tuřany and continues to a farmstead called “Tuřany statek”, located about one kilometre beyond the village.

Regional bus route 410110 connects Tuřany with Cheb and Sokolov via Nebanice, Odrava, Okrouhlá, Kynšperk nad Ohří and Libavské Údolí.

Architectural Heritage and Folk Culture

Farmstead No. 3 in Tuřany is dated to 1854 and preserves the four basic components of a Cheb farm: a residential building, granary, barn and stables. Its residential section has a ground floor built in log construction, a half-timbered upper floor and a richly patterned gable divided in a chequerboard design.

The chapel in Tuřany is one of the oldest and most interesting monuments in the village. It dates from before 1782 and is a sacred building with a rectangular floor plan and a three-sided termination on the western side.

No. 1 in Lipoltov, Tuřany Municipality, is listed as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 17495/4-147. Revived Masopust processions are held in Tuřany as part of the traditional folk culture of the Karlovy Vary Region.
