Buchau offers a glimpse into a local history dating back to the first half of the 14th century. Bochov was founded as a mining settlement during this period; the first written mention of Bochov dates from 1325.
History
In the middle of Bochov’s market square stands a Baroque sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from the first half of the 18th century. The interior of the church dates from the Baroque period around 1750.
Hartenštejn Castle is a late Gothic artillery defence fortification with battery towers. Hartenstein features an exhibition presenting findings about the history of the site gained through more recent archaeological research and was reopened to the public in 2016 after ten years of restoration.

Two signposted cycle routes run through Bochov: cycle route 2233 between Březina and Nežichov, and cycle route 2279 between Polom and Ratiboř. The Bochov–Kozlov–Mirotice–Německý Chloumek–Bochov loop is suitable for road bikes and trekking bikes.
