Údrc: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Údrč combines a natural monument with a church and several traces of medieval and early modern fortification history.

Nature

The Za Údrčí natural monument is located in the cadastral area of Údrč. It protects the marsh fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia) and its habitats in periodically wet purple moor-grass meadows of the Molinion alliance. Za Údrčí includes relatively well-preserved communities of non-forested formations as well as a nutrient-rich pond ecosystem with high biodiversity. The area is home to a significant population of marsh fritillaries; green frogs are also common. The presence of fire-bellied toads (Bombina bombina) has also been recorded there.

History

A nature trail focusing on the mining carried out there in past centuries leads through the Za Údrčí natural monument. The history of Údrč also reaches back to a Gothic water castle, which was built no later than the first half of the 14th century. The former Gothic water castle is preserved in the form of a circular castle rampart with visible remains of foundation walls and a partially water-filled moat.

Údrč Chateau originated as a Renaissance fortress, originally built around the middle of the 16th century. In the 17th century, the original fortress was converted into a Baroque chateau by the Lauenburkové. The castle site of the Údrč fortress was entered in the state list of monuments as a protected cultural monument on 3 May 1958.

Culture

The Church of Saint Linhart in Údrč was probably built in the middle of the 14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style in the 1730s. It is occasionally accessible. The church can be reached via a seven-section staircase with a lockable gate; a second gate on the northeastern side of the grounds provides access to the Church of Saint Linhart in Údrč.

Geographical location

Údrč is located about 1 km from the I/6 main road between Prague and Karlovy Vary. Regular bus services to Žlutice run there via Bochov; the bus stop is located at the turn-off to Údrč.
