Nature

A southern branch of the Zlatý potok flows through Semechnice. The protected natural monument Broumarské slatiny lies in the cadastral area of Semechnice. Semechnický rybník is one of three surviving ponds in the Opočno pond system.

Culture and history

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows has been a landmark of Semechnice since 1892. It houses an altar depicting the Sorrowful Virgin Mary beneath a cross. The annual Posvícení celebration in Semechnice takes place in the first week of September.

Mohylník Pod Chlumem is a burial mound field with 60 barrows from the Lusatian culture of the 1st millennium BC.
