Hrádek: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hrádek was first mentioned in historical records in 1377 in connection with the nobleman Bořek of Hrádek. Its historical legacy continues in sacred buildings, the remains of the former fortress, and Hrádek u Nechanic Chateau.

Culture and History

The single-nave early Baroque Church of St George in Hrádek has been documented as a wooden parish church since 1384. It was destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War and rebuilt as a masonry church in 1692. As an immovable cultural monument, it is listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under registration number 29516/6-620.

On the site of the former Hrádek fortress, on plot no. 15, a visible circular rampart has survived. Hrádek u Nechanic Chateau in Lubno u Nechanic was built from 1839 to 1857 by František Arnošt, Count of Harrach, as a representative summer residence for the Harrach comital family. The Church of Svatý Jiří is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Hrádek.

Park and Landscape

Part of the chateau park of Hrádek u Nechanic lies in Hrádek. The chateau park was established in 1844 and today covers approximately 18 hectares. It can normally be visited without a guide; exceptions may include special events and guided tours.

In the vicinity of Hrádek are Kozí kopec Hill [Libčany-Želí], Kavkaz Hill [Libčany], and Dubina Hill [Střezetice]. Sobětušský bor Hill [Nechanice-Sobětuš] is also located in the surroundings of Hrádek.

Paths and Connections

The walk to the Jehlický vrch viewpoint follows a red-marked hiking trail through the forest to a shelter with a view. One route leads through a gate to the side gate of the chateau; from there, you can continue into the chateau park.

Cycle Route 144 connects the municipality of Hrádek with Hrádek u Nechanic Chateau.
