Vižina: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Almost half of Vižina’s municipal area consists of forest. The Novodvorský potok stream flows through Vižina, and cycle route No. 308 branches off from the Greenways Praha–Vídeň route in the village.

Nature and Trails

Hiking trails run through Vižina and the surrounding area. Mount Hradec is located near Vižina. The mountains Plešivec and Velký Chlum are also located in the vicinity of Vižina. Further afield in the region around Vižina lies Mount Holý vrch.

The regional ČD railway line No. 172 from Zadní Třebaň to Lochovice runs through the municipal area of Vižina; Vižina has its own railway stop on this line. The line connects the interregional railway lines No. 171 from Praha to Beroun and No. 200 from Zdice via Písek to Protivín.

History

Vižina was first mentioned in 1271. At that time, dues from the village were paid to the Prague Order of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star. During the Thirty Years’ War, Vižina was burned down. In the mid-17th century, a manor farm and a sheepfold were built on the site of the former village and farmstead.

Vižina is located in the Osovsko Landscape and Heritage Conservation Zone. The village has a monument to those who fell in the First World War, consisting of piled stones. The chapel “Kaple ve Vižině” is located in the cadastral area of Vižina.

Karlštejn Castle is located in the vicinity of Vižina. The Church of Svatý Jiří and the Church of Malá Svatá Hora are also located near Vižina. Further afield in the region around Vižina are the ruins of Týřov.
