History and archaeology
Historically, Svrkyně was owned by Břevnov Benedictine Monastery. Kostel sv. Michala is a Gothic church from the early 14th century and was rebuilt in 1856, 1862 and 1897. The Svrkyňský burial mound consists of approximately twelve burial mounds arranged in the shape of a cross. It is located in the forest east of Libochovičky, next to the railway line south of Kováry stop.
Landscape and nature
The Zákolanský potok Site of Community Importance covers 10.1 hectares. A nature monument has been proposed there as a category of specially protected area. The Turská plošina lies predominantly on Upper Proterozoic rocks, generally just above 300 m above sea level, and is characterised by quartzite hills, including Horka and Pobíb. Its relief slopes gently down to the northeast, from approximately 300 m to 240–260 m above sea level.
In the immediate vicinity is Hajnice (Velké Přílepy-Kamýk), a hill.
In the surrounding area are Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč, a museum; Letohrádek královny Anny, a chateau; Galerie Rudolfinum, a museum; and The Golz-Kinsky Palace, a palace. Also in the surrounding area are Slovanský ostrov and Velké Benátky, each an island. Botanická zahrada Praha, a garden, is also located there.
