Přistoupim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Northeast of and above the town center of Přistoupim, the early medieval Šance hillfort is located on a prominent rise. It is naturally protected to the west, north, and east by the steep slopes of the valley of the Jalový potok stream. Road I/12 from Prague to Kolín also passes through Přistoupim.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Wenceslas was first mentioned in writing in 1352. Its present appearance was created by a radical early Baroque reconstruction in 1694–1695. A side chapel contains an early Baroque altar dedicated to St. Wenceslas dating from 1668. Next to the church stands a stone Renaissance bell tower dating from 1590–1591. In 2017–2018, its roof was renewed, the roof structure was repaired, and the cross with finial was gilded.

The town’s historic features also include the early Baroque Column of St. Wenceslas from 1686; its statue of St. Wenceslas was added in 1715. Approximately 600 tombstones have been preserved in the Jewish cemetery in Přistoupim. The oldest legible ones date from the mid-18th century, and the tombstones are a particularly valuable record of Baroque and Neoclassical Jewish funerary art. After its reconstruction, the former synagogue became the seat of the municipal office and the local library.

Landscape and Trails

Behind the Church of St. Wenceslas, a field path leads to the wayside shrine. Newly restored wayside shrines stand near Přistoupim; a celebration entitled “Festival at the Cross in the Field” was announced at them.

Local Life

A Masopust carnival procession took place in Přistoupim on February 13, 2026. It started at 10 a.m. at the primary school and proceeded through the town.
