Slatine: Apartments and Holiday Homes
Slatine is located on the eastern side of the island of Čiovo. The town combines sacred buildings with traces of Roman and Illyrian history. On a hill in Slatine stands the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was built around 1600 and contains an old painted crucifix.
Culture and History
Another important site is the Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica. It stands below a rocky cliff rising from the sea on the southern side of Čiovo and was built in 1546. Inside is a marble altar with a painting of the Madonna and Child, attributed to the Cretan school of the 16th century.
Roman inscriptions and archaeological finds bear witness to the influence of Roman civilization in the area. The parish territory of Slatine also contains the remains of Illyrian burial mounds. At the Shrine of Our Lady of Prizidnica, the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Feast of the Nativity of Mary.
Anyone who has chosen Slatine as a travel destination will want to rent a holiday apartment here.
