Prugovo: Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
Prugovo was first recorded in 1397 in a list of the villages in the Klis district.
The former parish church of St Anthony stood at the present-day cemetery. In an entry from 1709, it is described as a newly built, tile-roofed church. The former Church of St Anthony had already been built before 1704. After the new church was built, the old church was demolished in 1881; the chapel was retained as a cemetery chapel.
The present-day church is a stone building with Neo-Romanesque elements and a floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross. Its exterior features include hanging arches, a tympanum, three windows with semicircular tops, a façade clock, a pentagonal apse and a stone bell tower.
In 1994, local artists Petar, Vlado and Andrija Jakelić decorated the church with paintings. One of the church paintings depicts the Madonna above a panorama of Prugovo with a Croatian soldier.
