Zečevo: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Kula Zečevo stands on the hill of the same name at an altitude of 325 metres. The Kula na Zečevo ruins are the remains of a watchtower on a hilltop; their location offers views across large parts of the surrounding area.

Culture

In the vicinity of Zečevo lies Burnum, a Roman military camp built around the transition from the old era to the new era. The arches of the command building, a Roman military amphitheatre and the walls of the military training ground can be seen there. Burnum contains the only military amphitheatre in Croatia. The archaeological site and the archaeological collection of Burnum are open to visitors all year round; archaeological finds from Burnum are also exhibited at Eko kampus Puljane.

Oziđana pećina, with an archaeological collection preserved in situ, lies along the Stinice trail. The cave is the only cave in Krka National Park open to visitors and documents continuous human presence from 6000 to 1500 BC.

At Roški slap, visitors can view watermills, columns and a loom. The watermills are recognised as ethnographic monuments of Dalmatia and Croatia.

Nature

Roški slap consists of main waterfalls 22.5 metres high, with numerous channels, cascades and tufa islands. Manojlovački slap reaches a total height of 59.6 metres; its highest tufa barrier measures 32.2 metres.

The Pištavac trail leads through dense greenery down to the water, accompanied by the calls of birds and amphibians. Along the Stinice–Roški slap–Oziđana pećina trail, information panels provide details about the flora, fauna, geological phenomena and cultural and historical sites.

Trails and excursions

Roški slap is reached on the right bank of the Krka by following the signs to Kistanje, then to Laškovica and finally to Roški slap. Krka Monastery can be reached by road or on an organised boat excursion from Roški slap. Early Roman catacombs beneath the monastery church are open to visitors.

An organised boat excursion from Roški slap visits Krka Monastery as well as the ruins of the Trošenj and Nečven fortresses. Burnum, on the other hand, can only be reached by road.

To reach the Kula na Zečevo ruins, leave the A1 at Pirovac, follow the D59 towards Knin, turn towards Zečevo before Kistanje and continue along the road. The final approximately 200 metres lead along an unpaved gravel road; free parking is available nearby.
