Popova Luka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History and Culture

Popova Luka is recorded in documents from 1222/1228. A land register from 1396 lists the place name S. Spas; it may have referred to a Church of the Holy Saviour, of which no later historical traces have been preserved.

The Church of the Holy Trinity was mentioned in 1805. In 1893, a new church with the same dedication was built on the same site. Popova Luka also contains a listed rural settlement ensemble. Mirine is listed as the archaeological site of a villa rustica, and Škrabalići are listed in the eastern part of Popova Luka as a rural settlement ensemble.

Seafaring families are associated with Popova Luka, including the captains Pavo Bokanović and Baldo Bjelovučić.
