Drace: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Drače is located in Bratkovica Bay on the northern coast of the Pelješac Peninsula. The village has pebble beaches as well as dirt roads and cycling paths.

Coast and Landscape

The municipality of Janjina includes part of the special marine protected area of Malostonski Bay and Malo More; within the municipality, it covers 921.8 hectares. The landscape of Drače features centuries-old cypresses, olive trees, agaves and flowers.

The harbour of Drače can accommodate smaller yachts in water depths of 1.3 to 3 metres and is protected by a breakwater.

Paths and Surroundings

Drače can be reached via a local road that branches off from the regional road through the Pelješac Peninsula. Hiking trail 5 leads from Drače to Janjina and back to Drače. It runs along the entire coastal side of Drače and passes Stuvid Bay; it also crosses the olive groves of Janjina and low Dalmatian maquis.

Hiking trail 6 follows the Sreser–Drače–Sreser route. The section leading through Drače continues along a waterfront promenade designed for pedestrians towards Sreser. The surroundings of Drače are suitable for walking and exploring centuries-old settlements and their traditions.

Culture and History

The chapel of Saint Nicholas on the Dežulović estate dates from 1882. The Church of Saint Roch in Drače was built in 1936 with a contribution from Jozo Kalafatović. Drače has been recorded as the port of Janjina on Malo More since 1843.

Traditional livelihoods in Drače include agriculture, viticulture and fishing.
