Culture and history

Historic Dubašnica, to which Ljutići belongs, was established between 1451 and 1463 through Ivan VII Frankapan’s settlement of Croatian and Vlach families from the mainland. The area also became a refuge for people fleeing the Turkish threat.

Landscape

The history of Dubašnica is connected with downy oak forests that grew in the fertile Dubašnica field. Dubašnica is considered a green, fertile and wooded area; its name derives from a formerly dense oak forest.

Settlers gradually transformed the forests and pastures of Dubašnica into cultivated land. In the Dubašnica ethnographic zone, to which Ljutići belongs, there are also dry-stone farm buildings covered with plant material or canal tiles.
