Žgaljići: Holiday apartments and houses
Žgaljići is included in the moderately difficult MTB route 425 “U sjeni velikih hrastova”, a 20-kilometre circular route with 377 metres of ascent. The route runs via Milohnići, Brzac, Poljica, Žgaljići, Pinezići and Linardići back to Milohnići and combines asphalt, gravel, old cart tracks and narrower rocky sections lined with dry-stone walls. In the surrounding area, the route connects the section near Žgaljići with cultural sites around Poljica and in the western hinterland of Krk, including the Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Poljica and the Chapel of Saint Sixtus between Pinezići and Linardići.

Cycling and trails
The H128 “U sjeni velikih hrastova” trail is a mostly easy 6.6-kilometre walking trail in the surrounding area that begins in Poljica. Around Šotovento, the B-430 “Udahnite Šotovento” is considered an easy cycling route. Also in the surrounding area, the 7.2-kilometre moderately difficult H130 “Tragovima povijesti do Sv. Krševana” hiking trail passes through wooded natural areas with cultural heritage and reaches the 12th-century Chapel of St. Krševan, located above Čavlena Bay.
Culture and history
The Šotovento settlements, to which Žgaljići belongs, preserve their original village structure with groups of stone houses. In the surrounding area, the Chapel of St. Krševan has an irregular trefoil floor plan, a central space covered by a dome and cross-shaped windows. Glavotok Franciscan Monastery preserves Glagolitic inscriptions and manuscripts.
The bell tower of the parish church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Poljica was built in the second half of the 18th century and is considered an architectural symbol of the settlement. It is made of finely dressed stone and is a prominent landmark of the village. The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Glavotok displays Renaissance and Baroque stylistic features.
The Church of St. Krševan was built on the remains of an ancient rustic villa. In the second half of the 19th century, the island of Krk’s first printing press operated in Glavotok. The ethnographic zone of Poljica includes Žgaljići, Poljica, Bajčići, Nenadići and Brusići.
Nature
In the surrounding area near Čavlena stands the giant oak, which is believed to be 400 years old. It is 20 metres tall, has a crown measuring 30 metres across and a trunk circumference of more than five metres.

The “House of Krk Prosciutto” in Vrh is associated with the possibility of cyclists sampling Krk prosciutto on the B-427. Krk prosciutto is a Croatian product registered at EU level.
