Culture

In the vicinity of Barici, Višnjan is home to the Early Gothic Church of Saint Anthony the Abbot. It dates from the transitional period between the 13th and 14th centuries and preserves 16th-century frescoes as well as Glagolitic graffiti.

The Staza venecijanskog lava also leads through historic Višnjan and the old settlement of Barat. The trail is 4.5 kilometres long and takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Landscape

The Sovina staza includes the Vena viewpoint. From there, the views extend over olive groves, vineyards and the sea; in clear weather, they reach as far as Učka, Ćićarija, the Julian Alps and the Dolomites.

The area around Višnjan combines vineyards and olive groves on red Istrian soil with Boškarin grazing land, forests, as well as karst caves, sinkholes and underground formations.
