Brovinje: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
About 500 metres south of Brovinje are the St. John the Beheader Church and Abbey. The church is a single-nave Romanesque building from the 14th century with a Gothic portal and bell gable; inside are frescoes from the early 15th century. The church site includes a cemetery and the collapsed remains of St. John's Abbey. On the nearby Gradac hill once stood a Bronze Age hillfort and a medieval tower belonging to the Battiala family. Both structures were destroyed by the expansion of the quarry in the early 1990s.
