Potpićan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Potpićan is considered the youngest settlement in Istria and was established next to the shaft of a now-closed coal mine.

Those planning a stay in Potpićan can include their wish to rent a holiday apartment in their own travel plans.

History

Potpićan was built in the 1950s for miners who worked in the coal mines near Raša. The pastoral centre Dobri Pastir is a more recent building.

Landscape

A channel of the Raša River runs along the northern edge of Potpićan. The northern slopes of Dubro Hill near Potpićan are largely covered by downy oak and hop-hornbeam forest.

Gorinji (Pićanski) Lug is designated as agricultural land in connection with Potpićan.

Cycling routes

The official “Overlooking Fields and Vineyards” route runs as a 26 km loop through Potpićan. The route also offers a 5 km ride along the Vlaški potok and reaches the Raša Valley, where numerous watercourses converge in Potpićan.

The official “Istrian Demarcation” cycling route includes Potpićan in its Rabac–Potpićan–Kršan–Nedešćina loop.

Cuisine

On Cesta šparuga, asparagus dishes are available for tasting in April and May. The Užanca restaurant in Potpićan is associated with the seasonal selection of asparagus dishes offered by Cesta šparuga in April and May.
