Routes

The official Štrika-Ferata cycling and walking route runs through the cadastral municipality of Sošići and forms part of the corridor of the former Kanfanar–Rovinj railway. The listed route is 22.6 km long, classified as easy, and includes 20.6 km of gravel surface. Anyone looking to rent a holiday apartment in Sosici can continue their accommodation search afterwards.

History

The former Kanfanar–Rovinj railway line operated from 20 September 1876 to 20 October 1966. Its corridor included four railway stations and 14 gatekeeper’s houses and is now used as a cycling and walking path.

Culture

Maklavun is located on the road to Rovinj near Sošići. It is a Bronze Age tumulus estimated to be 3,500 to 4,000 years old. It has a tholos burial chamber and a dromos. The site is also interpreted as a possible solar observatory because the alignment of its entrance faces the winter solstice.
