Marići: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The official 32.9-kilometre-long cycling route “Journey to Central Istria” runs through Marići. The route begins and ends in Kanfanar and leads via Marići, Maružini, Matohanci and Sošići through the Limska Draga valley.

The official Kumbašeja Kids Trail also runs through Marići. It is classified as easy, is suitable for trekking bikes, e-bikes and mountain bikes, and takes approximately two hours including stops.

Activities

In the “pičenje jaja” game in Marići, participants throw from a distance of five metres at a slate slab; in later rounds, coins are used. The village’s sports facilities include courts and pitches for boccia, tennis, beach volleyball, small-sided football and handball.

Nature

The Kumbašeja route includes the Kumbašeja Pit, one of three described speleological pits. The “Journey to Central Istria” cycling route provides access to landscaped woodland areas, a viewpoint over Limska Draga, the valley itself, caves and ponds.

The cycling route passing through Marići runs between the vineyards, olive groves and fertile fields of Central Istria. The Kumbašeja Pit has the largest crater in Istria. It is also associated with the Romualdo ground beetle, which is considered an endemic subspecies in the Istria and Kvarner region.

Culture and Culinary Delights

Marići hosts a traditional Easter gathering with an egg-throwing competition and a social programme for locals and visitors. Špaleta, asparagus and other seasonal homemade dishes are served as part of the Easter programme.
