The Parenzana cycling route runs for over 80 km from Plovanija through Buje, Grožnjan, Livade, Motovun and Vižinada to Poreč. It is considered an official, easy route; 78 km run along macadam roads and 2 km along asphalt.

Hiking
The first Croatian section of the European E12 hiking trail runs from Plovanija to Poreč. E12 enters Croatia at the international Plovanija border crossing and follows the former railway line of the Parenzana as far as Grožnjan.
Cycling
The Plovanija–Vrsar stage of EuroVelo 8 begins at Sečovlje/Plovanija, ends in Vrsar and covers 72 km. The stage is described as having a total elevation gain of 840 metres, on asphalt and gravel. Immediately after the Plovanija border crossing, EuroVelo 8 turns right off the main road and then climbs gently along the Parenzana.
The Parenzana cycling route also approaches from the area around the Plovanija border crossing. One suggested route starts in Kanegra, follows the yellow markings towards Buje and then continues via Kaldanija and Volpija.
Trails
The 21 Mulino–Kanegra route starts at the Plovanija border crossing by Casino Mulino and follows a macadam road along the Dragonja River. It is 5 km long, takes around 30 minutes, is considered easy and is suitable for families. The route includes a viewpoint overlooking the Sečovlje salt pans.
Landscape
The wider area around Buje is characterised by a rolling, hilly landscape with vineyards, olive groves, farmland, oak and pine forests, karst features and Mediterranean vegetation.
