Hiking trails begin in Shiroka Laka, ranging from short walks to day trips. The geographical surroundings include various spatial references: Karabalkan is located near Shiroka Laka. Snezhanka Tower, Aydarski Kamak, Chala and Dzhebelov Grob are located in the area around Shiroka Laka. Farther afield in the wider region are Farasinós, Pefkólofos and Loutrá Thermión.

Culture

The Vladimir Rilski Museum-Gallery is housed in a restored former cell school building next to the Dormition Church. Its exhibitions cover Christianity in the Central Rhodopes, two centuries of education and the work of Vladimir Rilski.
