Boychinovtsi: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Anyone looking to rent a holiday apartment in Boychinovtsi will find a municipality where the rare water lily Castalia alba occurs along the Ribine River in the Lehchevo area. The municipality of Boychinovtsi lies in the Danubian Plain; a small part belongs to the Pre-Balkan region of the western Balkan Mountains. Its territory includes the fertile river valleys of the Ogosta, Botunya and Ribine.

Nature

Near Madan is the municipality’s densest peony meadow. Along the Ogosta are the protected Natura 2000 zones of Păstrina and Portitovtsi–Vladimirovo, which have been identified as possible routes for ecological and ornithological tourism.

Four old trees are monitored in the municipality: three Turkey oaks and one pedunculate oak. They stand in the Gorno Livage area of Murchево and in the former schoolyard in the Ogosta district of Boychinovtsi.

Culture

In May 2017, Boychinovtsi hosted the cultural festival “Spring by the Ogosta”, continuing a local tradition. In 2020, the Church of Saint George the Victorious was among the preserved and functioning churches in Boychinovtsi.

Transport

Boychinovtsi is an important railway junction connecting the municipality and the regional centre of Montana with Vidin and Sofia. The municipality is served by rail and bus transport. The railway network covers Boychinovtsi, Murchево, Ohrid, Pali lula and Erden within the municipality. The international E-79 road runs 17 kilometres from Boychinovtsi.
