Culture and History

Kaleytsa has a literary and cultural venue called Lamar House. It hosts summer literary gatherings, readings to mark the Day of the Bulgarian Enlighteners, and an annual celebration of the poet Lamar’s birthday.

Traditional occupations in Kaleytsa included pottery, woodworking, leatherworking, trade, and livestock farming.

The site and fortress of Kaleto, approximately 2 km from Kaleytsa, are associated with protecting the route through what is now the Troyan Pass, as well as with the local Thracian population. The fortress is described as having been in use since the first millennium BC.

Nature

The Lopushnitsa Waterfall, also known as Skoka, is located approximately 2 km west of Kaleytsa. The route continues for about 2 km beyond the village by car, followed by a roughly 10-minute walk along the river. The waterfall is approximately 10 m high and has a pool at its base.

The Central Balkan National Park is located in the wider regional surroundings of Kaleytsa.
