At the Granitovo observation point, 73 bird species have been recorded, including 51 migratory species and 15 birds of prey. During a migration survey at the observation point, 3,627 migrating birds were counted, including 1,380 storks, 6 pelicans, and 300 birds of prey.

The observation point is located on the border of the Sakar protected area. Granitovo is included in the Sakar 1 Special Protection Area for birds; access to some protected natural features in the wider area is restricted by inadequate roads and a lack of entrance signage.

Culture

The Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Granitovo dates from 1850 and is used only on religious holidays. The Kuker Day in Granitovo traditionally took place after Meatfare Sunday.

Hiking

The Stariyat Most hut can be reached from Elhovo via 7 kilometers of paved road and then a two-hour marked trail. The hut has 50 places in rooms with two and three beds. It offers guided tours, museum and theater visits, as well as transport services.
