Elhovo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Elhovo is the starting point of the long-distance Tour Strandja route. It begins at the quay on the Tundzha River in Elhovo's city park and ends at the port of Ahtopol.

Elhovo bus station has a waiting room, a luggage room, an accessible restroom, rooms for mothers with children, and free internet. From there, bus connections are available to Yambol, Sofia, Burgas, and Stara Zagora.

Culture

The Ethnographic-Archaeological Museum of Elhovo was founded in 1958. In 2008, its profile was expanded from ethnographic to ethnographic-archaeological. The museum is housed in two separate buildings containing ethnographic and archaeological exhibitions.

The collections comprise more than 23,000 objects. More than 14,000 museum objects form the core of the ethnographic collection, while the archaeological fund contains more than 1,000 movable cultural assets.

In four exhibition halls, the museum presents regional traditions. The themes range from historical ways of life and crafts to traditional houses, regional clothing, and seasonal customs, as well as woodcarving, icons, and the archaeological heritage of the Lower Tundzha region. The museum is included in the list of Bulgaria's 100 national tourist sites.

The museum also has a specialized library with more than 3,300 volumes and 1,700 issues of specialist journals for students and teachers.

Things to Do

Tour Strandja is 180 kilometers long and is described as a 9- to 10-day hike or a 3- to 4-day cycling tour. The route follows existing roads between villages and forest roads and connects 17 settlements, sights, and preserved natural areas.
