Dobrinishte: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dobrinishte is described as a balneological spa resort with hyperthermal mineral water at 43 Â°C. The water is described as containing bicarbonate, sulfate, sodium and fluoride ions.

Culture and History

In the center of Dobrinishte stands the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, built in 1835 and designated a cultural monument because of its architectural value. Its iconostasis is decorated with wood carvings by masters from the Debar region; the royal doors were brought here from the Rila Monastery.

In the central northern part of Dobrinishte lie the remains of an Early Neolithic settlement covering an area of about seven decares. Excavations uncovered house foundations, tools, pottery and anthropomorphic figures. The settlement is associated with the southwestern variant of the Karanovo I culture. The Historical and Ethnographic Museum in Dobrinishte displays material tracing the history of the settlement from antiquity to the present day.

Two old bathing pools by the river in Dobrinishte have Roman foundations and upper masonry dating from the Ottoman period. The town’s cultural character also includes preserved local folklore and the popular Desilitsa music group.

Water

Dobrinishte has 17 mineral water springs, concentrated in the northern part of the town along the river. The Dobrinishte mineral bath is located in the town park and is easily accessible to pedestrians and cars. An outdoor pool called Roman Bath is located on the outskirts of Dobrinishte in the direction of Eleshnitsa.

Nature and Mountains

The chairlift to Bezbog Hut offers an environmentally friendly approach to Pirin National Park from Dobrinishte. Nearby, the Bezbog section of the park includes part of the Yulen Reserve, Polezhan Peak and the cirque of the Polezhan Lakes.

A marked route leads from Bezbog Hut via Popovo Lake and Djano Peak to the Kremenski Lakes. It crosses glacial lakes arranged on terraces between 2,139 and 2,359 meters. Near the Kremenski Lakes, the route offers a wide panorama toward the basin and the green hills of the Rhodope Mountains.

In the mountain area accessible from Dobrinishte, a ski slope runs from Bezbog Hut to Gotse Delchev Hut. The St. Nicholas Waterfall is also nearby, in the foothills of Pirin between Bansko and Dobrinishte.

Connections

Dobrinishte is the terminus of a 125-kilometer narrow-gauge railway line that runs from the Upper Thracian Lowland through the Rhodope and Rila Mountains to the foothills of Pirin.
