In the wider regional surroundings of Milanovići, Lake Zanesovići is located 10 kilometres from the town of Bugojno and can be reached via a new asphalt road. Municipal and cantonal fishing competitions using float fishing tackle, as well as the opening of the respective fishing season, traditionally take place at the lake. It is managed by the Sportsko ribolovno društvo Bugojno.
Nature and winter sports
In the wider regional surroundings of Milanovići, Bugojno is characterised by densely forested, conifer-rich mountains, meadows and the fish-rich Vrbas River. The Rostovo ski centre is also located in this wider regional area, approximately 10 kilometres from Bugojno. The Rostovo ski area offers skiing opportunities for beginners and recreational skiers. A floodlit ski slope also enables night skiing there.
Near the Rostovo ski centre, in the wider regional surroundings of Milanovići, lies the ethnic village of “Babići”. The rock formation Kameni svatovi is also located there and is associated with a local legend according to which a wedding procession was turned to stone. Kameni svatovi lies halfway between Gračanica and Kordići, approximately 2 kilometres from the Bugojno–Gornji Vakuf main road, and is considered a natural rarity of Bugojno.
Culture and history
Within the municipality of Bugojno, archaeological sites attest to settlement since the Bronze Age and the Late Iron Age, as well as the existence of the fortified Roman municipium Ad Matricem. In Milanovići, a wooden mosque was inaugurated in Džemat Karadže on 1 November 2014. The mosque in Milanovići is regarded as a religious institution needed by the community.
The memory of Omer Tupa is also part of the local references: the First Bugojno Company was named after Omer Tupa; the grave of Omer Tupa is located in the Milanovići district.
Routes
A 7.8-kilometre school transport route runs from Kotezi via Gornje Karadže and Milanovići to Donje Karadže and continues to Hendek VII School. Milanovići is listed as a stop on the local SBK-74 route between Karadže and Kotezi.
In the wider regional surroundings of Milanovići, the approximately 100-kilometre cycling route “Staza stare pruge” runs from Busovača to Jajce. A continuation from Donji Vakuf via Bugojno to Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje is possible. The Đelemski put runs through the settlements of Karađže, Milanovići and Udurlije.
