Culture and History

In Navaya Mysh stands the stone Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, which was built after a fire in 1825. Its eclectic architecture combines stylized forms of Classicism and Gothic. Together with an Orthodox church, also dedicated to the Transfiguration, it forms an architectural ensemble situated opposite each other on the central square. Both are considered active churches. In 1870, residents of Gintsevichi were among the members of the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, which is regarded as a historical and architectural monument.

According to family tradition, the manor house in Hincewicze is described as a large brick building with a ballroom, organs, and a fishpond. Historically, Gincewicze, also called Hincewicze, is recorded as an estate in Nowogródok District. The Gincewicze estate, also called Hincewicze, was described as the property of the Pietraszewski family.

Landscape

The Myshanka River begins near the village of Buinevichi in Baranavichy District and is 109 kilometers long. The site of Mysh Castle lies south of the village of Staryja Mysh on the banks of the Myshanka.

Crafts and Museums

A reconstruction of Mysh Castle can be seen in the exhibition of the District Folk Crafts Center in the village of Rusino. The district center combines workshops for pottery, weaving, woodcarving, straw weaving, and embroidery with a museum exhibition featuring five pillars. Its grounds include a windmill, a forge, a well, and wooden sculptures of pagan gods. Traditional festivals at the District Folk Crafts Center include Christmas and Maslenitsa.

The Baranavichy Local History Museum presents exhibitions on the nature and history of the region as well as on the city of Baranavichy. It also offers guided tours for various visitor groups and museum educational events.

Historical Traces

The established international historical and cultural excursion route “In the Footsteps That Inspired Adam Mickiewicz” runs through Baranavichy District. Its stops include Baranavichy, the Zaosie Estate Museum, the Philarete Stone, and Tuganovichi Park.

A wartime report mentions Gintsevichi as a location on the line that had been reached by 4:00 a.m. on July 8.
