The Mir Castle Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in Korelichi District. Its Gothic castle was later expanded in the Renaissance and Baroque styles; the surrounding area was designed as a park. Anyone considering Kareličy as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul stands on a hill in the centre of Korelichi and is visible from afar. The stone building was erected in 1866 from bricks in the retrospective Russian style on the site of an earlier wooden church. Its three-part composition comprises a rectangular refectory with a low bell tower, a prayer hall with side chapels, and a semicircular apse with sacristies. The church remains active and is used as a place of worship. A monument to Jan Czeczot stands behind the church.
The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was built in 1938 in the neoclassical style. After it was returned to the faithful in the early 1990s, it was fully reopened in 1992.
The Korelichi District Local History Museum is located at 19 Sovetskaya Street. Its exhibition comprises seven halls, including a section on the history of the region from prehistoric times to the 18th century.
History
Korelichi is also connected with the history of Belarusian tapestry. Michal Kazimierz Radziwill, known as “Rybonka”, opened a tapestry manufactory in Korelichi in 1760, which operated until 1792. The first tapestries made in Korelichi adorned the halls of Nesvizh Castle in 1764.
Jan Czeczot is also part of the cultural heritage of the place: he collected and published around one thousand Belarusian songs.
Nature
